Circular stairs make a major design statement. A circular staircase is more like a traditional staircase than a spiral one think of the kind you might find in a medieval castle. Unlike a spiral stair helical and curved stairs do not have a central column.
Starting at a 36 diameter your clear walking space will increase by 3 for every 6 of. Otherwise the radius is determined from the specified tread length and arc constraint. A circular staircase may have a very narrow diameter like the one seen in this picture or a wide curve giving it a very grand appearance.
It is one type of round or circular stairs in which the riser is connected to a central column. See Cut or Open String. This is the large long substructure of the final form with rounded corners and two tiers and a nine-step central staircase.
Like spiral stairs curved stairs follow a helical arc. A flight of stairs circular in plan whose treads wind around a central newel. In its most basic form it is a simple design with no turns and is used in most homes although the style can be played with.
Closed String A string with the face housedtrenched to accommodate treads and risers so their profile cannot be seen. The circular stair is adopted at the backside of a building to access its various floors. In these types of stairs all the steps radiate from a newel or well hole in the form of winders.
