Arduino Stairs Lighting
An Arduino-based LED stair lighting project.
Arduino stairs lighting. Erica Kane has developed a similar Open Source DIY Automated LED Stair Lighting system using an Arduino Pro Mini a M5451 LED Display Driver to power the LEDs and a PING ultrasound distance sensors to detect. There are different types of micro-controllers that can be used Raspberry Pi or Arduino to name the two most common. Use Octopart NorthStar 12V LED lights.
Affix the wider trunking to the wall using screws. Get more than you think you need. Bell wire rated for indoor use.
Im a big fan of LED lighting. As the Led bar need abouts 500mA the IO port of the Arduino has no way to directly drive the LED light bar and the IO drive capability of the Arduino. I chose this one because it had sufficient PWM outputs.
ALMOST finished my staircase lightingUsing Arduino unoWs2812b leds 60ledmeter 5vPir sensorsLDR sensorMeters of cable30a 5v power supply. The stairs are quite dangerous - especially at night - but not any more thanks to the Motion Activated Automatic LED Stair Lighting with Arduin. Any Arduino should work.
See CONNECTIVITY tab Ready to use code examples for Arduino. I wrote the code on an Arduino Mega 2560. Pay attention to the ends make sure that mounting screws are reasonably close to each end.
STEP2 - Connect the LED bar to the MOS switch and stick it under the stairs. An automatic stair lighting system is one which lights each step LED when a user starts to climb or descend. This was the right size and price for me.
